Your GoSquared questions answered
Where do the users shown in the People section of GoSquared come from?
When a user is created on your Zapnito site, they appear in the People section of your GoSquared project.
There are users in my GoSquared project that are not in the Users list on my Zapnito site. Why?
There are a few other ways users can be created in GoSquared.
If you have the GoSquared Chat tool on your site and an anonymous user starts a chat, they will be created as a user in GoSquared. You can recognise the user as their GoSquared ID will contain ‘Anon Chat’.
If you have integrated GoSquared with Drip or MailChimp and added users to those platforms, they will also be pushed through to GoSquared as new users. You can recognise these users as their GoSquared ID will contain their email address with the prefix ‘email:’.
As a rule, if the user’s GoSquared ID looks like a Zapnito ID - i.e. numerical - it is almost certain that the user originated in your Zapnito site. You can double check this by searching for the user ID in the User section of your Zapnito site. E.g. if I search for 3453, I am returned in the search as that is my Zapnito user ID.
You can of course upload users to your GoSquared project, too.
If you see any users in your GoSquared project that you don’t think should be there, please contact support@zapnito.com.
If a user is signed up to more than one Zapnito site, will GoSquared see them as the same user?
No. For security reasons, GoSquared users are always project-specific. So if one of your customers is signed to another site that uses GoSquared, there is no possibility of their data being carried from one project to another.
So if you manage more than one Zapnito site and the same user exists on more than one of your sites, they will appear as two separate users in GoSquared, one for each project.
Not all the users on my Zapnito site as shown in GoSquared. Why is this?
Customers can block their data from being sent to GoSquared through the use of ad blockers and other scripts that prevent their data being delivered.
You may see a user in your Zapnito data that does not appear in GoSquared at all or you may see a user that does appear in both places but GoSquared has not recognised the user as having logged in to your Zapnito site when you know they have done. This is often due to them having an ad blocker in place.
A way to test this is to sign in as the user in the Zapnito site. If they then pop up in your GoSquared People data as currently being on the site, you know that their data is being blocked when they use their usual device to access your Zapnito site.
Likewise, if you have blocked a user’s IP address in the back end of your Zapnito site or within GoSquared, so that their behaviour is not shown in your analytics, their Events and Properties will not be picked up by GoSquared and they will either be absent from your People list or be shown and appear not to be using your site.
