I recently joined Kenny on The Learning Curve podcast to talk about something I’m deeply passionate about: peer-to-peer learning and the role it plays in shaping the future of L&D.

One theme we explored is how traditional, top-down training models are no longer enough on their own. Formal programs deliver value, but they often miss the immediacy and relevance that come from real conversations.

Peer-to-peer learning fills that gap by giving colleagues the chance to share expertise, ask questions, and solve challenges together.

We also spoke about the importance of starting small, with micro-communities and trusted cohorts. These intimate groups create the safety and trust people need to share openly and give back. Over time, they grow into larger networks that drive collective intelligence across the organisation.

Another important piece is the role of digital tools. Not everyone learns the same way, and technology allows us to support different preferences - from micro-learning and structured content to live conversations and video. It also helps peer-to-peer learning scale while complementing structured training.

Of course, building this kind of culture doesn’t happen overnight. It requires facilitation, consistency, and a mindset where people feel encouraged to contribute as much as they receive. But when that culture takes root, the impact is powerful - engagement grows, knowledge flows, and teams become stronger.

The key insight I keep coming back to is this: peer-to-peer learning doesn’t replace structured programs, it completes them. It adds the human connection that makes learning more engaging, relevant, and impactful.
